FFVI Event Gameplay Stratergies

I sorry I hadn't gotten a chance to write this earlier, but I've been tired and busy (and some lazy.)

This week brigades are 94 players large this week. Depending on the % active players, battles are going to go quick this week! Great for anyone who wishes to farm Magicite Shards. (three 1BP attacks yielding three 2x shards = 18 shards total vs one 3BP attack yielding 3x shards = 9 shards total in a 40 minute period) *not including level 7 Deathgazes, those yield three 4x or 6x crystals* Also great for the Deathgaze defeat counts! Faster paced battles shouldn't adversely affect the CP farmers as you would only attack when you have a full 3BP to get the most CP overall (CP from 1BP attacks wont add up to what is gained in a 3BP attack.)  Other farming ideas have been discussed on older entries.

Brigade Battles
Having the brigade with more contribution points will be important during events. As I've observed and mentioned before, the losing brigade will encounter the Esper (with a Miracle Potion) more often and the winning brigade will encounter Fiends more. During non-event times, this helps the losing brigade to potentially catch up in points. But during events, generally no one wants to attack Espers or Fiends, so brigade battles could come to a standstill with no one killing the Esper and it could be exasperating that the other brigade gets to have a free-for-all on the Event Boss.

About Locke!
He shows up randomly for any type of brigade battle and will be around for 5 minutes starting from when you first click the Brigade button. Try not to go straight to the Brigade page if you have 5 or more minutes left to regen to a full 3 BP, you will only get annoyed that the Locke timer will run out before you regen to 3BP. If you can't remember what time you will reach full BP restoration, visit the Airship page to check your time. Want to know if Deathgaze has been spotted by your brigade without triggering Locke too early? Go visit your Profile via the Airship page check out the brigade activity log there.

FYI
Just in case you didn't know yet, if you click on the "Chests" or "Other" tabs in the Mog Box, a "Take All Shown" button will make getting things easier. Surprisingly, not everyone figures this out right away.

Blue Magicite
Unless you are using them Vomp Carrots, abilities are gonna be crazy scarce unless you are freakishly lucky. I really recommend saving Blue Magicite to transmute R Abilites so they don't suck. You get 2 free abilites, one from the quiz and one from Deathgaze defeat count.

White Chocobos
When I ran into a White Chocobo during this and last events, I got an SR event ability (once with no carrot, and then the 2nd time with a carrot.) Maybe because I got lucky, or because White Chocobos are just that awesome. But don't be blaming me if White Chocobos do give you crap. But please let me know the results regardless what happens so I can make a better conclusion on White Chocobo drops on event maps.

Damage
Various factors. You need strong summons, weapons & abilities. Seriously take the time to level up abilities, weapons and summons. The 2 brigademates you take into battle also make a difference, I've actually tested it and saw my total damage drop when I used weaker people. As I mentioned before, event weapon bonus is not active for the two that go into battle with you, so you want whoever has the highest atk/def. The game usually picks the strongest by default so you won't need to manually pick them. Using the summon low charges will let you summon more often.

Transmuting
The Magicite cost decreases as you evolved an item. The 4th Evolution is cheapest, but 3rd is affordable and will get you your higher rarity item sooner if you being cheap on CP.

Analyze the numbers & decided what's best with whatever you can afford. I recommend having fully Evolved R+ Weapons for starters. Then fully evolved SR then when feasible, fully evolved SR+. It depends on how lucky you get on drops or how much CP you have to spend.

*Some image names won't match in-game names, since I made these before the Deathgaze event launched. They are what I guessed the localized English names were going to be.

I was a dumdum last week and didn't check weapon stats while doing  my transmutions and evolutions. Apparently I should have left my SR Lightsabers Radiant Lances untransmuted and just leveled them up to have multiple 17200/16740 weapons. GAR!

  1. Been following your blog recently, just wanna let you know I've been finding it very helpful.

Wish I saw this post earlier tho, on my 2nd account I had 2 full evo lances and stupidly transmuted both.. The drop off was huge.

And btw, the ninja preferred item is katana, not knife.

  2. I wholeheartedly agree with the statement about the radiant lances. Doing that this time around with the valiant knives and it's working great so far.
